Howto create a lego figure 3d model in Blender 3D – Part 1: Model a lego-head!

Blender 3D tutorial how to easy model a lego-head in 23 steps

today i will show you how to to model a lego-head with Blender. This tutorial is part of my blender 3d – series "make your own lego minifigure in blender 3d"

( You have to activate the first 6 layers to see the complete LEGO-figure)

Requirements:

Linux / Windows
Blender (Tutorial made with Blender 2.70 – Download here)
Basic Blender Skills

STEPS

1.) Select Front-View (Numpad 1)

2.) Create Cylinder with 16 Verticles, and Depth 1.0

3.) Switch to edit mode and Press STRG+R to devide mesh in the mid

4.) Switch to wireframe

5.)and and select the the lower faces

6.) delete the faces and add the mirror modifier on Axis Z

7.) Add the subdivison surface modifier, set View to 2

8.) Select the upper edges

9.) Extrude them (Press E) and move them +0,3 on the Z-Axis

10.) Extrude again (Press E) and scale the to 0,5s

11.) Now apply the mirror modifier ( u can only do this in object mode)

12.) Switch back to edit mode and solid and select the upper edges from the inner circle

13.) Press E and then G (+0.6 on z-Axis)

14.) Press E and then scale the selection

15.) Press E and move the selection

16.) Now lets sharpen the edges with loop cuts (STRG+R)

After that we finished the upper side.

The lower side is the same with other parameters

17.) First select the edges

18.) scale a bit (Press S)

19.) Press E and move the selection

20.) Press E then scale

21.) Then E and move the selection down

22.) Now Sharpen with Loops (STRG+R)

23.) At the end, change to object mode and press smooth

24.) So, now the head model is ready and if you set a nice color (yellow mayber 😉 ) to it, your output shall look like this
